What is the State of Our World Today? by Murray Stein

Keeping in mind Jung’s clearly expressed opinion, “No-one can claim to be immune to the spirit of his own epoch or to possess anything like a complete knowledge of it” (Jung, CW 13, para. 153), we will nevertheless struggle with the question: “What is the State of Our World Today?” Our Postmodern Age has been termed “liquid” by the philosopher, Zigmunt Bauman. In this lecture, I will consider the state of “liquidity” to be part of an individuation process, which proceeds from solutio through liminality to coagula, or integration. The challenge in our present passage from the Aeon of Pisces to Aquarius is to move consciously through these stages in the worldwide psychological and spiritual development of humanity to a new synthesis of the opposites. This lecture will be my attempt to name some of the more evident features of the psychological state of the human collective in April 2024 in the terms of Jungian psychology. Please join me in this inquiry. –Murray Stein, Goldiwil, Switzerland
